Artem Smirnov

Artem is Partner at Xora, where he is passionate to share his significant startup operation and technology commercialization experience with entrepreneurs.

Prior to joining Xora, Artem was CTO at TAE Technologies, one of the world’s two largest private fusion companies. In addition to overseeing all R&D across a broad spectrum of activities, Artem spearheaded the development of the company’s venture incubation practice built on fusion-derived technologies. As a result, TAE successfully spun-out startups in cellular-targeted cancer radiotherapy and power management solutions. This diversification strategy was instrumental in enabling TAE to secure over $1.3 billion in funding to date.

Artem has extensive experience leading complex global R&D and product development efforts requiring highly specialized supply chains. Since 2015, he has also been at the forefront of the intersection of AI and physical sciences, having overseen the TAE-Google collaboration on machine learning to accelerate the advancement of plasma research.

Artem holds a PhD in plasma physics from Princeton University, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
