Joel Leong

Joel Leong is Director of Research and Analytics at Xora, where he supports the investment team with thesis development, market landscaping, and due diligence. With over two decades of experience applying AI to physical and life sciences, Joel combines technical expertise with practical insight.

Before joining Xora, Joel held senior roles in global companies and government research. He was Chief Development Officer at A*STAR’s Experimental Drug Development Centre and spent over a decade at Novartis as Executive Director of Clinical Research at the Novartis Institute for Tropical Disease (NITD) and Medical Lead for Asia-Pacific early clinical development at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR).

Joel’s background also includes positions in MedTech and academia, serving as Executive Medical Director at CTI Mirada Solutions/Siemens Molecular Imaging, visiting professor at UCLA, and Clinical Lecturer in Pathology at the University of Oxford.

He holds a medical degree (MB.BS) from Adelaide University and a PhD (D.Phil) in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in AI imaging diagnostics, from Oxford University.
